DR. JENNIFER JO BROUT

Dr. Jennifer Jo Brout is a New York State Certified School Psychologist, a Connecticut Professional Licensed Counselor, and holds a Doctorate in School/Clinical-Child Psychology. She is also the Director of the International Misophonia Research Network and is a regular contributor to and blogger for Psychology Today. Since 1999, Dr. Brout has avidly pursued the effort to establish better research practice, improved diagnosis, and innovative clinical practice related to auditory over-responsivity. Dr. Brout has been at the forefront of research in this area for over 18 years, having established the Sensation and Emotion Network (SENetwork) in 2007, along with Sensory Processing and Emotion Regulation Program at Duke University in 2008 (now the Misophonia and Emotion Regulation Program). She graduated from New York University, Columbia University, and Ferkauf School of Psychology (at Albert Einstein School of Medicine) respectively. She is also the mother of adult triplets. She is proud to have been able to apply her studies in film at NYU to this project that explores and explains the groundbreaking, interdisciplinary work and art of Dr. Joseph E. LeDoux. 

KURT FELDHUN

Kurt Feldhun is an award winning director, editor, writer and composer. He directed and edited Bernie Whitebear: A Modern Warrior, which won the American Indian Film Institute Award for Best Short Documentary.  His music video for the legendary Bad Brains premiered on MTV and his Emmy nominated documentary work has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He produced and edited Building One House, narrated by Robert Redford and featuring the music of Pearl Jam.  He was the director, editor, and co-host of "Fishin' Impossible" which aired on ESPN International in over 72 countries. Kurt has also directed commercial projects for clients such as Google, Starbucks, Microsoft and John Deere and is currently co-directing a feature length documentary on the band The Flamin' Groovies. 

 

TIM SOMMER

Tim Sommer is a journalist, former music executive, musician, record producer, and former MTV and VH1 producer and news VJ. After beginning his professional journalism career at age 16 with Trouser Press magazine, he contributed regularly to the Village Voice, the Daily News, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Mojo, the LA Weekly, The Observer, Rolling Stone, Spin, Inside Hook, Rock and Roll Globe, and many others. He has released records as a member of Hugo Largo, Hi-Fi Sky, Even Worse, and the Glenn Branca Ensemble, and has collaborated directly with musicians as diverse as Brian Eno, Michael Stipe, and Thurston Moore. He is also frequently cited for his contributions to the early career development of the Beastie Boys, Run-D.M.C., Maroon 5, and Sonic Youth. From 1983 until 1992, Sommer worked for MTV Networks as a music news producer, news and specialty show VJ, and on-air correspondent. From 1992 through 1999, he was an A & R executive at Atlantic Records, and in this capacity he signed both Hootie & the Blowfish and Duncan Sheik to that label, and worked closely with Scott Weiland, Michael Crawford, and 7 Year Bitch. He is proud to call himself a friend of Dr. Joseph E. LeDoux, and he co-produced Theory of My Mind, Dr. LeDoux’s second album with his band The Amygdaloids.
